Strategic Collaboration

Port Moresby, June 2025 – Saver.Global and Digicel CellMoni are proud to announce a strategic collaboration to deliver essential financial and digital literacy education to Papua New Guineans through the SaverLearning platform.

This collaboration is set to support thousands of individuals across the country—particularly youth and underserved rural communities—by providing the tools, skills, and confidence needed to navigate the digital financial world safely and effectively.

Expanding Access to Financial Education

As part of this initiative, Digicel will provide free and zero-rated access to SaverLearning content via its mobile wallet and supported platforms. This ensures equitable access to Saver.Global’s growing library of mobile-first, contextualised courses covering topics such as budgeting, mobile money, remittances, banking, and cybersecurity.

A Multi-Faceted Approach

The collaboration will:

  • Develop tailored content that supports Digicel CellMoni services and builds financial confidence among users.
  • Roll out school and community awareness programs for learners aged 14 and above, with a special focus on rural and peri-urban populations.
  • Deliver education through a blended model that includes digital apps, videos, gamified modules, as well as offline tools such as flyers, printed booklets, and local events.
  • Establish a shared monitoring and evaluation framework to assess reach, engagement, and impact.

Supporting Financial Independence

“At Digicel CellMoni, we believe in enabling our customers to take control of their financial futures. Through this collaboration with Saver.Global, we’re equipping Papua New Guineans with practical, relevant tools to build confidence and safely engage in the digital financial ecosystem,” said Thompson Sakyi, Managing Director of Digicel Financial Services Limited (CellMoni).

“Papua New Guinea represents a powerful opportunity to expand financial inclusion through mobile-first tools,” said Jon Capal, Founder of Saver.Global. “By working together with Digicel, we’re making financial education more accessible than ever—especially for young people and rural communities who stand to benefit the most.”

Looking Ahead

In 2025, the SaverLearning platform has been introducing a range of new courses, including Financial Cybersecurity and Safe Surfing, which teach users how to protect their personal data, avoid scams, and navigate online platforms with confidence.

This collaboration builds on Saver.Global’s growing presence in the Pacific region, following recent collaborations with the Consumer Council of Fiji and other key digital providers.

Together, Saver.Global and Digicel CellMoni are paving the way for a more informed and financially empowered generation in PNG.
