Empowering Women Migrant Workers: Launch of the ILO PROTECT Project Trainings
Laura Wiebe
Women migrant workers face specific challenges when moving abroad for work, from financial risks to digital security threats.
Saver.Global is excited to partner with the ILO PROTECT project, providing essential information and training for women migrant workers and their families in Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia.
With a focus on human and labour rights, safe migration, gender equality, and digital and financial literacy, this initiative will empower migrants with the knowledge they need to identify unethical recruitment practices.
A Regional Effort for Greater Impact
The ILO PROTECT Project will deliver targeted trainings in:
- Thailand – financial literacy for migrant workers in the country.
- Cambodia & Indonesia – pre-departure cybersecurity and digital literacy trainings to help workers stay safe online.
Saver.Global will launch two key cybersecurity courses—Financial Cybersecurity and Safe Surfing—in Khmer and Bahasa Indonesia. These courses will equip women migrant workers with critical skills to protect their digital identity, avoid scams, and safeguard their finances while working abroad.
Financial Literacy for Smarter Money Management
Beyond cybersecurity, the project will also include financial literacy courses, ensuring that women have the tools to budget effectively and manage their earnings safely. Through in-person trainings and a training-of-trainers (TOT) model, Saver.Global will support the development and management of these courses across Thailand, Cambodia, and Indonesia.
Reaching More Migrants with Multilingual Support
Recognising the importance of accessibility, Saver.Global will initiate multilingual social media campaigns to extend the reach of these trainings beyond the classroom. This will ensure that even those who cannot attend the in-person sessions still have access to essential cybersecurity and financial literacy resources.
Building a Safer, More Empowered Future
By focusing on women’s empowerment through digital and financial education, the ILO PROTECT Project is taking a crucial step toward safer migration and stronger financial independence for women migrant workers.
Stay tuned as we roll out these courses and share impactful stories from the field!
