Empowering Financial Futures: Celebrating Global Money Week with Saver.Global
Laura Wiebe
Global Money Week (GMW) is here, and we’re proud to champion its mission—not just this week, but every day of the year.
At Saver.Global, we’re passionate about expanding access to financial knowledge and tools, empowering individuals to make informed decisions. Smart money choices create a ripple effect, strengthening communities and improving quality of life for generations to come.
What Is Global Money Week?
Global Money Week was launched in 2012 by Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI) to promote financial education for children and young people. In 2021, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) took the lead through its International Network on Financial Education (OECD/INFE), expanding its reach and impact. Today, GMW has become a global movement, celebrated in over 170 countries.
The core message of Global Money Week is simple but powerful: “Learn. Save. Earn.” These three words reflect the essential building blocks of financial literacy — understanding money, developing saving habits, and exploring opportunities to earn and grow wealth.
The theme for 2025: “Think Before You Follow, Wise Money Tomorrow,” shines a light on the growing challenge of accessing reliable financial information — especially for young people. With financial trends on social media often spreading misleading or biased advice, this theme underscores the need for effective financial education. It empowers individuals to recognise questionable guidance, resist impulsive decisions, and navigate financial markets with greater confidence and awareness.

Why Financial Literacy Matters
In today’s fast-changing financial landscape, understanding how to manage money isn’t just a skill — it’s a tool for empowerment.
